Who Are We

Who Are We

Alessandra Zeka

Alessandra Zeka is a Director, Producer and Cinematographer. Since founding Adrenaline Films in 1998, she has created a dynamic cinematic style wherein her subjects tell their stories compellingly and intimately. Her work often focuses on the lives of women and gender identity. She documents hard-to-find stories in locations spanning from Beijing to India, New Orleans, Albania, Coney Island, Central America and more. Born in Spain, she lives in New York City when she is not working or around the world.

“Ever since I can remember I have been driven by a curiosity for other people’s traditions, cultural identities and political histories; and the way they reverberate in our own lives. The nature of my documentary work reflects this, by focusing on people’s everyday lives. I seek to create an evocative and poetic portrait of my subjects by letting them tell their stories in their own words, thus hoping to  bring insight and understanding to myself and to the viewer”.
